Cinnamon Sugar Recipe

 This mixture is a blend of cinnamon and sugar. Use it on top of buttered toast, muffins, cereals and oatmeal. It can also be used to sweeten tea and coffee.
Ingredients

• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 1/4 cup sugar

Directions

1. Blend the cinnamon and sugar together in a small bowl.
2. Store the sugar in a covered container until ready to use.

 

 

Cinnamon Muffin Recipe

Serve these delicious muffins at your Valentine’s Day breakfast celebration. This recipe makes 12 individual cinnamon muffins.

Ingredients

• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 3 teaspoons baking powder
• ½ cup granulated sugar
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 6 tablespoons butter - chilled
• 1 cup vanilla soymilk
• ½ cup pecans - chopped

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
2. Sift the flour, salt, baking powder, sugar and cinnamon into a large mixing bowl.
3. Add the chilled butter and cut into the dry ingredients using a pastry blender or two knives until it has the appearance of coarse corn meal.
4. Stir in the soymilk and pecans.
5. Use a 12 compartment greased muffin tin and fill each section approximately 2/3 of the way with the batter.
6. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
7. Frost each muffin with some of the icing.

Icing Ingredients

• 1 cup confectioner’s sugar - sifted
• 1 tablespoon+ water

Icing Directions

1. Add the confectioner’s sugar to a small bowl.
2. Add just enough water to make a thin icing.
3. When the cinnamon rolls have been removed from the oven place them on a large serving platter.
4. Drizzle the icing onto the rolls until all of the icing has been used up.
5. The icing will harden as it cools down to room temperature.

 

 

Cinnamon Almond Biscotti Recipe

This recipe makes a dry biscuit type cookie which is perfect to dunk into tea or coffee. Children will enjoy dunking them into milk or hot chocolate.
Ingredients

• 2 eggs
• ¾ cup brown sugar - packed
• ½ cup vegetable oil
• 1 teaspoon almond extract
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• ½ cup sliced almonds

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Add the eggs, sugar, oil and almond extract to a large bowl and stir together.
3. In another bowl sift together the flour, baking powder and cinnamon then stir into the egg mixture.
4. Stir in the almonds.
5. Evenly spread the dough onto the bottom of a greased 15x10x1 inch jellyroll pan.
6. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 20-22 minutes until dark golden brown.
7. Cut the biscotti into approximately 32 rectangular shape pieces as soon as they are removed from the oven.
8. Let cool to room temperature before serving.

How To Start A Fire Without Matches

It is a simple matter to light a fire with matches, but what do you do when you need a fire and no matches are available? It is a known fact that there is no single way to light a camp fire. Even so, the principals of lighting a fire are always the same.



If you are caught in the woods and need a fire but do not have matches, there are several ways you can still light a fire. The first thing you will need to do is look around you. If you are in a heavily wooded area, you will need to find a safe place for your fire.


To prepare an area you will need to make sure it is cleared down to the dirt of all flammable items. Clear everything in a circle up to three feet or more from the center of where you plan to have your fire. If stones are available, place them in a circle around the fire site to further insure your safety. While to are gathering stones check for smaller stones that spark when struck together. If you find some, put them aside to help start your fire.




Next you will need to gather dried grass and small twigs to use as kindling. Dried pine needles, leaves and other dead plant materials work well. Then gather plenty of dried wood to keep the fire going once you have it started. There is nothing more frustrating than getting a fire going only to lose it while you are out searching for wood. Also be sure to gather some wood that is slightly green, if possible.



This will burn longer once the fire is built up enough to start it. Place some of the grass, twigs, dry moss, lichen or other kindling in the center of your fire pit. Use a generous amount to get the fire started and you can add more to get a better flame.


If you have found stones that will spark when struck together, take one in each hand. Holding them close to the kindling, continue to strike them briskly together until the sparks ignite the kindling.

Gently blow on the area where the spark lands to aid with the ignition. Many people carry flint when hiking in the woods and this can be used by striking a pocket knife against it to make sparks. Other hard stones such as quartz, jasper, iron pyrite, agate and native jade will also work well to ignite a fire.





Another item that can be used to start your kindling is any type of magnifying glass. To start a fire in this manner, you will need plenty of sunlight. You can use an ordinary piece of glass, glass from binoculars, untinted eye glasses, watch crystals or water.


If you find yourself in a situation where it is difficult to find rocks but there is plenty of water, try holding the crystals from two watches or pocket compasses that are about the same size back to back so the space between picks up the sun's reflections from the water. Direct this reflection to the tinder and wait patiently for the tinder to ignite. A piece of clear ice will also work well with this method. Simply shave the ice and smooth it with your hand until it clears.

Using a bow and drill you can fashion out of poplar, yucca, fir, red or white ceder, cotton wood or willow is another way to start a fire without matches. Simply fashion a bow using a piece of string and a slightly bent twig. The string should be long enough to loop around the drill.


You will also need a piece of fire board. This should be very dry, dead wood. Another item you will need is a socket to hold the drill into the hollow in the fire board. This can be fashioned out of bark or wood by cutting away a center hole that will allow the top of the drill to be easily inserted and yet loose enough that it can move freely.


Carve the socket into a circle that is easily held by two fingers. The drill should be a strong, straight stick with one end whittled to a point. Notch a hole in the fire board and singly wrap the string around the middle of the drill. Place the drill inside the notch in the fire board and holding the socket at the top of the drill between two fingers make a sawing motion working the bow back and forth.


Make sure the drill is in direct contact with the fire board at all times. This is a tedious process but eventually the friction will cause the fire board to spark and glow. When this occurs, immediately add dried grasses. When the grasses begin to burn add small kindling and then your wood.

The five biggest mistakes people make when home painting woodwork!! Painting woodwork is probably the most fiddly and time consuming part of home painting. There is a lot to consider and a lot of preparation involved with your DIY home painting.

What I mean by woodwork are things like doors, frames, skirting and the like. Now to the five biggest common mistakes when home painting your woodwork.


The first thing people think of is that the existing coat of paint unless your painting over varnishes or polyurethanes has to be taken back to bare wood or timber. This is not always the case. Do this only if it has badly broken down. If you're just changing colour and generally painting, a good solid rub down with sandpaper will do the trick.


Not undercoating with the correct product. An undercoat is designed to bind and seal the surface back to give you a neutral plane to work with,an undercoat can be called a platform builder.

Not using good quality paints and materials and I'm talking about finish coats now. Whether it be gloss enamel, satin or semi gloss good quality is always the best option. Buying the you bute special bonza paints that has probably been mixed in a high school science lab is NOT COOL. Good quality enamels and let's not forget water based and environmentally produced paints and glosses are your best bet. Remember this! {quality products produce quality workmanship.}


The most crucial common mistake when home painting your woodwork is a bad quality BRUSH. The bottom line is, if your willing to use a broken stick as your finishing brush, expect your finish product to look like that also. A brush with a beautiful soft bristle and these days they make good quality synthetic ones that can handle the miles quite well, this is your best option, and these are the only types of brushes I use these days whether it be for oil or water based paints. For the beginner I suggest a 63 mm sashcutter. This type and size brush will cover all your bases.


So last but not least the number 5 mistake that people make when home painting woodwork is not forgetting steps 1 to 4. You have to have a system when doing woodwork then you can't go wrong. Prepare, undercoat and do your finish work, but introduce a system for yourself and keep repeating it. This way you're guaranteed not to forget things and make mistakes.

How Horses Sleep and How it Affects Their Behavior

These parts work together to keep the horse's legs in a standing, locked position. While your horse may appear to be awake, he is likely asleep enough to kick out at you if you were to approach him unexpectedly.


Horses will sleep about 3 hours out of the 24 hours in a day. They will sleep for brief periods at a time, either standing or flat out on the ground. During good weather conditions, you will often find them snoring (too much weight on the respiratory system) and twitching. Each horse has his own schedule.

Horses that are confined and worked daily often take up time spent in drowsiness, where they appear awake, but are really 'off' in another world. Your horse may be in this state more than the others, or he may prefer to sleep deeply when there is no activity around.


Horses have several stages of sleep much like we do -- drowsiness, Slow wave sleep (SWS) and Rapid eye movement sleep (REM).

Many horses are affected by the lack of sleep they receive, and often exhibit this need during their training times. If you are having problems with your horse, you need to look at leadership as only one of the reasons for your horse's behavior. Feed may also be part of your horse's attitude problems, or your horse may be suffering sleep deprivation.


"Training alone is not a substitute nor a cure for all behavior problems."
According to Marijke van de Water, horses need to lie flat out in order to experience deep sleep with REM. Sleeping by standing up only allows them a 'short wave sleep' designed to let them rest while enabling them to take off at a gallop if alerted to a predator.


Horses also suffer from disturbed sleep cycles when barn and yard lights are left on at night. This common practice can alter coat growth in the fall, encourage early shedding, and interfere with the production of growth hormone (a hormone secreted by the brain after dark) that not only determines hair growth but also has a positive effect on energy, metabolism, weight loss, strength, fertility, immunity, memory, behavior and sleep patterns. Marijke suggests you experience how this feels yourself by sleeping several nights with a light on. A horse that suffers from serious sleep deprivation will often doze off while you are standing him in the arena, talking with friends. (Narcolepsy) can be dangerous, as the horse's knees can buckle while you are on him.
It's important that we recognize sleep problems in our horses when trying to diagnose another issue. Watch your horse during times when no one is around; when it's quiet, and the lights are off. You may be surprised at how often he does sleep, or be alarmed at how little he does.

WWE Championship

Vince McMahon is the owner of WWE formerly known as WWF. For more than 40 years WWE has been at the top of the wrestling world including the 1980s when the entertainment boomed. Part of the 80s boom happened because of the Rock-n-Wrestling connection. This featured Cyndi Lauper and Captain Lou Albano exchanging words after shooting the video "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" which they both were involved in.
MTV and the WWE decided to have a wrestling promotion on MTV channel. The Fabulous Moolah, who was champion for the last 28 years was supporting Captain Lou Albano and offered to wrestle someone on his behalf against whoever Cyndi had in her corner. Wendi Richter was the challenger. She was young, attractive and had great ability. With the assist of Cyndi Lauper, Wendi beat Moolah for the title in a widely televised show. This all went great though a bad business decision by Vince McMahon was about to take place.
A little more than one year later Vince set up another match between Wendi Richter and Fabulous Moolah. At this point Wendi was still champion though it is known she was pushing for more money. Nevertheless, she agreed to do the match as she was billed to win again against the Fabulous Moolah.
Moolah wore a mask during the match, though everyone knew who it was. They had a good wrestling match and it lasted a little while. Wendi goes for a pin and it is reversed. Nobody could predict what was about to happen except Moolah, Vince McMahon and the referee.
As Moolah reversed the pin, Wendi kicked out at a one and a half count, but the ref kept pounding the canvas quickly to 3 and called the match. Wendi Richter was without question confused. She began chasing Moolah around the ring, taking off her mask and trying to continue the match. Fabulous Moolah was parading around the ring basically trying to ignore Wendi's awkward pleas of reason.
Wendi Richter never saw the inside of a WWE ring again. Moolah held the title for another 2 years. Vince McMahon is known for being less than honest, though no one could expect to be manipulated on live television in a business that is built on this kind of trust. For some reason this never got much exposure and even everyone in the wrestling business let it go. This was Vince McMahon's first "Screw Job", but it wouldn't be his last. Unfortunately Bret Hart had to figure this out at a Wrestlemania when he was billed to win. Vince was nervous about Bret possibly going to a rival company, he did this "Screw Job" about the same way he did with Wendi Richter, now referred to as the "Montreal Screw Job". Bret Hart had no intention of leaving the organization.

One that tells that buyer that you are not an amateur, but instead a trained, seasoned professional. Your site is a direct reflection of your product and that is why having a well designed website can make or break your sales.



The first thing to keep in mind when designing your website, is ¿surfability¿. Take a few minutes to look around at several web pages. What makes them appealing? Were there some that you closed out of immediately? Why? Take notes and do your research. Keep in mind that when a person visits your site they have a goal in mind. They are either seeking information or shopping for a product. Give the person what they want without having to search for it. Be sure that all the information on your site is relevant to your product. Make the buyer think that they need your product to solve their problem.


Your main page serves a very specific purpose. It should be an avenue by which the customer can shop your site. It should be easy to view and load very quickly. This is your first impression and we all know that first impressions can either close the deal or loose the deal. Make it simple. It is best to have links that are easily viewable by the reader that will navigate them to where they want to be. Tables are often a great choice when deciding on a way to design the main page of your site. Your main page should load very quickly, chances are if it takes the page more than ten seconds to load even on a 56k modem, the customer will click away to save time, hoping to find the information or product elsewhere. To increase the loading speed of your main page you should avoid large graphics or excessive graphics. Too many banners or special effects can cause a page to load slowly as well.




To make your web site more appealing to the eyes, you should stick to mild colors. If your site is a content site where the user will be doing a lot of reading, it is best to stick to black and white. Color can be added when using tables, as a way to brighten up the page, but remember to keep the overall look of the page professional and appealing to the audience that will be visiting most often. Since screen resolutions vary among monitors, it is a good idea to set the pixels to a standard 800x600.


You may also choose to set the tables in your web page to span a percentage of the page rather than a set number of inches. This will be sure to accommodate all screen sizes. You should remember that a lot of Internet users will not use the same browser as you, and therefore you should be sure that your site looks as good on other browsers as it does on your own. You can do this by downloading several browsers through which to look at your page.


Be aware of the fact that the overall look of your website is a way to make money. The appearance of the site, if designed properly, can be an excellent marketing strategy for your product or service.

Considering that the Internet is a fairly new introduction to modern life, it is amazing to see how much it has developed in such little time. The Internet has gone from being a new and exciting commodity to an essential tool of 21st Century Life.
We are able to update the Internet instantly. Unlike print, the Internet is fluid, information is not bound into physical print never to be changed. This is why online newspapers have proved so popular with readers. They are able to check the news for developments every few minutes, always being rewarded with another snippet of information or a new breaking news headline.
The Internet has proved itself to be a powerful factor in the spreading of globalisation. Hundreds of countries, states and islands share the same bank of information, dipping their heads into the giant pool of the Internet and receiving the same electric shocks.
Scottish boys can race cars with kids from California and Italians can flirt with Brazilians on i-life. At the same time teenagers in New Zealand are listening to obscure Chinese musicians via My Space. All through the amazing medium of the Internet! It is even possible to attend university courses on the Internet by reading lectures and listening to podcasts online in an educational revolution. Imagine no more classroom lectures!
Of course it has been a matter of debate about whether or not this kind of globalisation will be a force for good or a force that brings something more damaging.
Many people believe that the Internet will help eradicate any sense of national culture and identity whilst some people argue that this would be a good outcome.
It is useless to try to stem the tide of progression and to do so would be to hamper science and the nature of humanity itself. It still remains to be seen what the effect of the Internet will have because it is still growing and developing, a technology that develops society whilst being simultaneously developing by society.
As I was saying before, companies are tapping into the market with online universities. Universities are partnering up with innovative businesses to create tailor-made online courses aimed at people who want to gain more qualifications but whom may have been in the world of work for a long time already. This not only has the effect of enabling individuals to potentially earn more than before but it contributes to countries as a whole by offering the adult population further education.
This is just one part of how the Internet is developing communities for the better.
